2-Day Paid Period Leave For All Female Delivery Partners

Mihir Shah, vice president for operations at Swiggy announced this new employee welfare program, that will certainly inspire other corporates to follow suit, and help all female employees to manage periods in a better way.

This 2-day paid leave every month is no-questions asked leave policy.

In a blog post, Mihir said, “To support them through any menstruation-related challenges, we’ve introduced a no-questions-asked, two-day paid monthly period time-off policy for all our regular female delivery partners,”

This leave policy is completely voluntary, and the employees will be assured of minimum payments during this period.

He said, “This industry-first initiative gives our female DEs the option to voluntarily take time-off during their menstrual cycle and be eligible for a minimum earnings guarantee during that time.”

Better Facilities For Female Employees

Swiggy has made sure that every delivery partner, especially women delivery partners have access to hygienic working conditions, and access to washrooms at the restaurants from where they pick orders.

As of now, Swiggy has around 1000 women delivery partners, and 99% of them are under 45-years of age, and 89% have children to take care of.

42% of these women delivery partners are using the money earned to support their family, and provide for their kid’s education.

Last year, Zomato had announced 10 days of paid leaves for all female employees in a year, for the same reason.

We congratulate Swiggy for this noble endeavour.
